Statistical Study of Ectopic Pregnancy

Abstract
Clinical and statistical analysis on 218 patients treated for ectopic pregnancy at the Dept. of Obst. & Gynec., College of Madicine, Pusan National University between Jan. 1957 and Sep. 1965 are presented. The results obtained are as follows: ,
1. The incidence of ectopic pregnancy was 1.22 per cent in total out of patents, and 4.9 per cent in pregnant women.. The incidence have gradully increassing tendency for the last 9 year.
2. The average age of all patients was 31.6 years and 66.1 per cent were 26 to 35 years of age.
3. 11.9 per cent were nulligravida and 88.1 per cent were multiparas and its average length of sterility was 3 years and 2 month.
4. A history of previous abortion was 61.0 per cent, and in 39.9 percent had a history of artificial abortion. 13.2 per cent had previous abdominal surgery, 12 cases, tuberculous disease(5.5 f ).
5. Lower abdominal pain was pesent in 96.3 per cent of the cases; vaginal bleeding 68.8 per cent. Abdominal pain combined vaginal bleeding in 63.3 per cent of the cases and in 38.5 per cent of cases, the onset of above symptomes was noted in 31 to 50 days after the date of the last normal menstrual period.
6. In 58.3 per cent of patients, an adnexal mass was palpated on pelvic examination. Lower abdominal tenderness was present in 95.9 per cent of cases.
7. The accuracy of culdocentesis was obtained from 94.8 per cent of the patients performed.
The sedimentation rates of aspirated blood in cul-de-sac was remarkably delayed _ more than that of the venous blood.
8. The affected site of tubal pregnancy was 57.7 per cent on the right, 42.3 ppr cent on the lefti In the operative findings, tubal rupture types was noted in 63.8 per cent; tubal abortion types; 34.4 per cent.
9. 97 patientients were treated by salpingo-oophorectomy: 119 patients, by salpingectomy.
10. Of all patients, 6 patients were misdiagnosed.
11. Of total cases, no death occurred.
